Heritage Documentation Workshop

Wadiyar Centre for Architecture, Mysuru.

The Heritage Documentation course was centered around a workshop led by visiting expert Ragul Ravichandran. Ragul introduced 4th semester students of architecture at WCFA to drone-based and phone-based Photogrammetry tools and software for documenting ancient temples close to Mysuru.

The course emphasized the importance of built heritage in understanding temple structures and explored ways to visualize tangible cultural heritage as architectural drawings.

The Sri Kashi Vishwanatha temple complex in Srirangapatna, along the river Kaveri, became a site of exploration and learning. Over the course of the workshop and the semester, students from Batch 2023 engaged in hands-on learning and practical documentation techniques to produce a report and an in-house exhibition on campus. I am happy to share some images and drawings from the course.

Namma Mysuru Heritage Walks

As a faculty member at the Wadiyar Centre for Architecture, I’ve had the privilege of teaching courses that blend architecture and the arts, while also contributing to several heritage-related projects. One of the most rewarding has been the Namma Mysuru Heritage Walks, a unique initiative commissioned by the Sri Kanteerava Narasimharaja Sports Club.

Working as the Creative Director alongside Assoc. Prof. Julie Ann Tharakan and an enthusiastic student team, we created a Heritage Walk Map of South Mysuru, exploring lesser-known sites and hidden gems often left out of mainstream heritage trails. From identifying routes, conducting field visits, mapping, and sketching, to moodboarding and directing the overall visual narrative, the project was an exploration of three thoughtfully curated walking routes through the scenic backdrops of Chamundi Hills.
